Who We Are

Scottish Family Trace is run by Liz Moore who has over 12 years experience in genealogy research for Scottish Families and tracing birth parents for adoptees born in or with connections to Scotland. She has worked with families who have moved abroad at some point and have lost contact with their roots. Sometimes family members have forgotten information, or have been given wrong information down the generations.

She has traced back towards the present, finding living relatives who still stay in Scotland and has arranged contact. Liz has found families, within Scotland, who have stayed only a few miles apart and knew each other on a friendly basis, but did not know they were related.

She has traced family medical histories, where certain illnesses seem to run down generations, through death certificates. Liz has also traced family wills through the records office, which give information on inheritances and names the executors of the wills. She has located property once owned by certain families and has obtained sizes and portions of property and amounts paid for land.

Newspaper articles, military records, personal items owned, drawn, painted or written by family members have been traced and included. Also family photographs and pictures of where the family used to stay. Location of headstones in cemeteries and extracts from Burial Books are also included where possible. Family stories have been followed up and anything of interest to the family included. The information can be supplied in book form or on CD Rom to the family with the number of copies supplied suiting each individual family.
